Borges Café Bar: a bilingual website for a neighbourhood café

Borges Café & Cervecería is a café and beer bar in the Campanar neighbourhood of Valencia, Spain, run by two owners from Argentina. We designed and built their website in Spanish and English. It is a good example of what a small hospitality business needs from a site, and nothing it does not.

The brief

A café does not need a complicated website. It needs to answer the questions people ask before they walk in: what do you serve, where are you, when are you open and how do I get in touch. It needs to load fast on a phone, look like the place actually feels, and work for locals and visitors who do not speak Spanish.

The owners also wanted the site to tell their story. Borges is run by two friends from Argentina, and the food reflects it: breakfasts, jamón serrano, pizza and empanadas alongside the beer. That personality is the reason people come back, so it had to come through on the page.

Our solution

We built a single, fast page with clear sections: menu highlights with a link to the full digital menu, a photo gallery, the owners’ story, the team, and reviews from real customers with a button to leave a Google review. Opening hours and the address are easy to find, and visitors can call either owner or open Instagram with one tap.

Every section is available in Spanish and English, with a language switcher at the top. The layout is designed mobile-first, because most people looking up a café nearby are standing in the street with a phone.

How it is engineered

The site is built with Next.js and React, the same stack we use for larger projects such as Hire Doris and Familiagram. That means a small business gets the same engineering standards as a software product, and the site can grow, with online ordering or bookings for example, without starting again from scratch.

Because the content is structured, adding a new dish, photo or review is a small change rather than a redesign, and translations live next to each other so the two languages stay in step.

Where it stands today

The website is live at borgescafebar.com in Spanish and English, and the footer credits Looney Devs. It shows the kind of compact, well-built site we make for cafés, restaurants and other local businesses, including here in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty.
